Gowan Bank, one of the
grandest examples of elegant Victorian residential architecture in SW Ontario,
was designed in 1888 by the architectural firm of Marling & Burdett of
Buffalo, New York for John Arthur Esq., a local industrialist. The house
was constructed in 1890 and the original plans remain with the property.
